

Eric Szerlag came to the Thomas Duke Company directly out of Western Michigan University in 2009. At the time, there were many different points of view as it related to his timing to get into the commercial real estate business- the entire country was in the depths of a recession, and the commercial real estate industry had been hit especially hard. Transactions during this time were very difficult and took quite a bit of “hands-on” involvement from real estate brokers in order to navigate through foreclosures, short sales, a slow leasing environment and general pessimism about the future of commercial real estate. Now with over a decade of experience in the industry, Eric still credits the lessons learned during this challenging time as being instrumental in his success.
Eric’s total dollar amount of completed transactions is well into the 9 figures spread across all asset types of CRE- from retail, office and multi-family investment sales to representing large multi-tenant office and retail buildings in their leasing efforts. He specializes in the Western Oakland county area where he has lived most of his life. His professional, relationship based approach appeals to corporate and private clients alike.
In 2019 Eric was promoted to Vice President of the Thomas Duke Company, the youngest Vice President in the company’s 40 year history. With this new title, he leads a team and helps develop younger brokers at the company, instilling the same lessons learned during his start in the business.
