Riding the Boom in Residential Land Development

Two years ago no one was predicting a boom in residential land development in Metro Detroit’s western suburbs. But a boom it has been, and the Thomas A. Duke Company has been there to ride it.

The company’s sale of a 16.7-acre parcel on Napier Road just north of 8 Mile is just the latest example. This year Duke Company brokers have put under contract or sold ten parcels slated for residential development in southwest Oakland county—currently the fastest growing area in the state.

Still, the parcel on Napier Road didn’t sell itself. It presented a unique challenge or two, and though twice the deal seemed sealed, both times it fell apart. Undeterred, Duke Company brokers engaged their extensive network of purchasers and persisted, asking candidates serious questions to find just the right match. The third time was the charm. The buyer will build thirteen single-family custom homes on the site—just north of Maybury State Park’s spacious 950 acres—by next summer.

If you have land you’d like to put into play in this residential development boom, we’re confident we can find just the right purchaser for your parcel, too. If you’re a developer or home builder looking for the property best suited to your profile, we can locate it. Our far-ranging network and experienced approach to real estate sales and development can bring buyers and sellers alike booming success.
